No one’s coming.
And hello again dear readers.
There’s no one here.
WHO CARES?!?!?! GUESS WE’RE GOIN CRAZY THEN!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, that’s enough.
Today, I’m bringing another edition of Sound bites, where I just post songs that I’ve been listening to. I’ve been saving up quite a few songs, so you may get more of a mouthful than a bite, but, in the words of Kurt Vonnegut, “So it goes.”
And so, without further ado, let’s get to it!
- Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, Ryuichi Sakamoto
This is the main theme from the strange war film, “Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawerence”, featuring… the guy who made this song and… David Bowie.
But this song is pretty good. The chord progressions within each section follow a typical “oriental” pattern and definitely have an Asiatic sound to them, but you can hear strands of sound that are very reminiscent of Christmas music from carols that you might hear around December. Something like the soundtrack to Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown. It’s a very interesting mix that works far better than I thought it did. It probably works better than the movie itself. From all evidence I could find, this movie seems to really be known best for David Bowie being in it and this song.
- Plug in Baby, Muse
So, I am not a big fan of Muse. I have heard and enjoyed only 3 songs. This is one of them. Besides the weirdness of the whole thing, the main guitar riff and the chord progression was very interesting to me. It definitely fits into the conventional music pattern (stuff, chorus, stuff etc.), the transitions between the sections were kinda cool.
As for the weird video… naw, that was wack.
- A.D.T.O.Y., 2PM
So, I am not a fan of this kind of music. But for some strange reason, 2PM somehow slipped through the cracks. I just kinda like a bunch of their songs. A LOT of their music is mediocre, but there have more than a few times that I have found their tunes catchy. Is it repetitive? Yes. Is the sexual dancing in the video just stupid-looking? YES? Do I have no idea what “A.D.T.O.Y.” means? HELL YEAH. But was this song catchy? Yup, it was. Oh well.
And that’s it! Thanks again for reading and have a great day!
wait, what the hell is this garbage at the end here? no, we want good music.
